This is fashion's newest face, and its use in provocative images has many enraged.

French child-model Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau is ten. She has already been shot for magazines like French Vogue. Thylane's pouty, camera-ready poses mimic those of models twice her age.

British tabloid Daily Mail reports that Thylane is now the subject of public outrage, quoting a spokesperson for Mothers' Union: "Photo shoots requiring her, a 10-year-old-girl, to dress in full make-up, teetering heels and a dress with a cleavage cut to the waist across her pre-pubescent body deny Blondeau the right to be the child she is".

Thylane's brush with fame is not entirely by happenstance - she is the daughter of French footballer Patrick Blondeau and her mother, Veronika Loubry, is an actress.

Comparisons with the iconic Brigitte Bardot have been flying fast and furious - but Bardot was five years older when she first appeared in ELLE magazine.

In the wake of the British government cracking down on the sexualisation of children in the media and advertising, Thylane's career is likely to remain a fashion controversy.
